The Memoirs of a Yumi Master

Addric is one of the two main characters of my books and he is also the narrator.

As he says in the first line of the first book…’These are my memoirs.’

He is a Yumi Master of the Third Order and has been ever since he was sixteen years old.

Each of the stories in the series are his memories, not just of how he got to be a Yumi Master, but of the numerous adventures he has had over a very long lifetime.

The Yumi are a legendary race of divine human beings who inhabit one of the many realms in the domain known as the Khavala.

The Khavala  is a neighbouring galaxy to our own…hypothetically speaking of course…and is the name of Addric’s home world, a conglomerate of many realms which exist side by side, each one being the home of different but related species, not all of whom are human; some are unusual and interesting nature spirits.

Even though a Yumi Master has the power to do almost anything, they have nothing in common with vampires, wizards or any other fictitious hero of the modern age, but as you will discover, he and his brother are not just super heroes…they are divine superheroes and that makes a big difference.

A Yumi Master has to adhere to a very strict code of conduct. If they break just one Yumi law, it registers immediately, their lives are forfeit and they could potentially lose everything.

During the initiation ceremony which transforms Addric and Dheago from human to divine, their energy system is given a turbo boost to the next level, but it is the robe they must wear until the end of time and the golden clasp at the neck which generates the power they have at their disposal.

The cloak is very adaptable and has many uses, but the clasp is a Quadron, an object of power. During the initiation ceremony, it automatically calibrates itself to an individual’s energy system and  provides them with an enhanced level of power.

Their Soul Purpose becomes that of an immortal and they must make a solemn vow when accepting the Quadron, but if they abuse their power in any way, the Quadron automatically becomes their jailer. They would be immediately incarcerated, judged by their elders and from that moment onwards, their life would be a living nightmare.

However, it is not all bad news; the power of a Yumi Master is a divine gift and with it comes great power, which means that they can do almost anything you can imagine.

A Yumi Master does not do magic…they manipulate universal energies…a task which requires not only the ability to visualise, but it also requires an ordered mind and a vivid imagination.  As a consequence, universal energies feature prominently in these stories.

A Yumi Master has no need of weapons but they do have the ability to create and destroy. Their robe offers them the power to appear and disappear at will. They can relocate from one place to another, as long as they have a clear idea of their destination…and as a result…they get to have the most extraordinary adventures in any part of the known universe.

At least Addric does, as he has already documented the first three years of his life as a Yumi Master.

Toss all of those ideas into the mix, throw in a little tension, lots of crazy and wonderful characters and you have the recipe for some great stories and great adventures…all of which is the world of Addric Sharano…Yumi Master of the Third Order.
